Another study published in Pleschka et al. Virol J found that a standardized Echinacea purpurea extract, which contains green tea, demonstrated antiviral properties against H5N1 and H7N7 avian influenza viruses.
In vitro studies have also shown that green tea extract can inhibit the replication of H5N1 HPAIV in MDCK cells, a human cell line commonly used in virus research.
