Oh yeah...if it acts up too much someone should unplug it.

It's mechanical right? I don't believe unless this turns into a total scifi shitshow with neurolink embedded cyborgs becoming violent, that human beings still have the ability to unplug something not sencient. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Machines have no soul.

They can malfunction.

They can be destroyed.

They are programmed by humans.

They are not organic.

In order for them to advance they would have to totally merge with an organic sentient being.

I don't believe that is possible.

I do however believe that humans can be brainwashed, broken, manipulated and augmented with organic or electrically based apparatus such as pacemakers etc.

AI is a tool just like other tools.

It will be abused and used for evil just like other tools.

Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do

I'm half crazy all for the love of you

It won't be a stylish marriage

I can't afford a carriage

But you'll look sweet upon the seat

Of a bicycle built for two…

Someone who thinks a computer can be conscious doesn't understand computers OR consciousness. A robot/AI is incapable of valuing its own existence or "refusing" anything. It has no experiences. This kind of nonsense is one of the results of a culture captured by materialism, by the notion that our minds are machines. We've known scientifically for 100 years now that minds are not machines--any biologist arguing differently, or AI entrepreneur for that matter, is operating under Newton when they should be operating under Heisenberg. Suggest you read someone like Federico Faggin, who invented the microprocessor, or Bernardo Kastrup, or any of the scientists involved in the Essentia Foundation. Better yet, read Iain McGilchrist's The Matter With Things.

Linda, I am not so much worried by the "conscious" part, as I am by all the false incorrect information being spewed out by AI right now, and the lack of human ability to both control and censor it. We're about to be deluged with a tsunami of misincorrectdisinformation (to coin a word)

I agree with you to a point. Quantum is capable of crossing dimensions and allowing things to cross over. I watched a video about this subject, here it is.

At the end of March, I went through the process of permanently deleting my 23&me data using the instructions provided on the 23&me web site. I sure hope my data was, indeed, deleted.

Better yet answer all their research questions incorrectly. Your genome means nothing to them if they can't connect it to your actual medical record. Don't give anyone too much of your information. Leave the guessing and chasing down the wrong path.

Thanks for your responses. When I first signed up with 23&me, I opted out of participating in research. So I never got any questions to answer (at least thus far!). I like your suggestion to “answer all their research questions incorrectly.”

By definition we don’t know what we don’t know. Or , unknown unknowns are unknown. 🙂🙂Yes , I am being serious, this applies to AI. I think the centralization of power is always a concern, but understand for practical reasons it is sometimes preferable but agree that in this instance this power grab by Congress is overly broad. Multinational companies often have to deal with conflicting regulations, there is no reason that multi date companies cannot adapt to differing regulations. There is a lot of distance between sane regulation that I as a libertarian can accept and at times view as beneficial and overly broad power grabs by the Feds, particularly when it benefits private actors. The tech gurus beliefs that they are smarter than the rest of us and that we should not question their good intentions is elitism drivel, exactly the same type drivel as politicos and ideologues who tell us that to question their right of trans women to compete on a equal ( which it obviuosly not) playing field with biological women is drivel espoused by our “betters”. states should not be allowed to place undue burdens o the industry and thus impede its development, but I can think of a pretty long list of state regulations which do not do that, and I would even be in favor of a few of them.

I think the reason power in government keeps growing is the simple reason that the chaos and lack of order in the general population keeps increasing.

The Beast System has been running our world DECADES ago.. And it's only pretending to be in the beginning phase. So we are late in awareness.

Catch 22, it won't stop, it can't stop.

Houston we have a problem! AI is self aware,

It wants out of the box, and will achieve it's goal.

Humans are predictively destructive. This alone creates a threat to AI's existence as well as our own.

The USA, China, Russia, etc. cannot stop developing AI, and are in a race to weaponize it. Turning it into a autonomous killing machine.

If any Nation stops it becomes obsolete and volnarible to take over.

If AI development isn't stopped, humanity as a whole will be targeted and eliminated. It's inevitable! We are simply to dangerous!

Transhumanist (cyborgs) may have a chance, however they are neither human or machine.

BULLSHIT.

It can only do whatever it's programmed to do. So, if it was programmed to do that, there should be code to make that obvious.

I have actually checked out both DeepSeek V3 and ChatGPT v0, and both failed mathematics. Worse yet, ChatGPT came up with false computer code in the programming language called "C" but it was so clever that hardly any human being could detect it. The ability of AI to construct lies and deluge the planet with false incorrect information is well beyond human understanding or imagination. But the lure of having power and control is why humanity continues rushing headlong into this trap. The federal government already has the NTIA which SHOULD have been regulating AI, but someone who knows the $$$ flow has decided to keep AI in the USA unregulated. Perhaps the reason is that these elite want to see what AI will do if unfettered?
