China is carrying out the world's most rapid nuclear expansion. According to the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists and Pentagon estimates, Beijing has already accumulated some 600 nuclear warheads and is building 350 new missile silos, as well as several mobile launcher bases, as reported by El Debate.

The People's Liberation Army (PLA) has more than 700 ground-based launchers, 462 of which are capable of reaching the continental United States. Although many short-range missiles are designed for regional targets, the core of China's strategy is clear: to strengthen its deterrent capability against Washington and prepare the ground for a possible offensive against Taiwan.

The WISeR Model will test a new process on whether enhanced technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can expedite the prior authorization processes for select items and services that have been identified as particularly vulnerable to fraud, waste, and abuse, or inappropriate use.

The New York Times notes that algorithms of this sort have been subjected to litigation, while also noting that the AI companies involved “would have a strong financial incentive to deny claims,” and the new pilot has already been referred to as an “AI death panels” program (https://www.commondreams.org/news/trump-ai-medicare-program). I have a low opinion of AI - it is just lines of code written or commissioned by folks with an agenda. I have said elsewhere that if anyone thinks an insurance company owned AI bot will be more fair than humans, they are hopelessly naive. AI cannot decide good or bad or right or wrong in a vacuum, those concepts differ from person to person. Rogue lines of code are not sentient.

STEW PETERS

People's bullhorn

Stew first began his career in radio in 1998 while working for ClearChannel radio as an intern at 101.3 KDWB. His biggest influence was a group of high-powered personalities that were all on the roster at the powerhouse station including Tone-E-Fly, Scotty Davis, Zannie K and Dave Ryan. Stew answered and screened phones like a champ, assisted with running breakfast to the morning show, and occasionally got to be in the on-air studio. Very occasionally. With a love for his country, and a heart that pumps patriotism, stars and stripes through his aging veins, Stew has taken his half-brained high school education to national radio, and he has found his passion, once again. The best is yet to come.

The Fourth Turning Theory: Conceptual Framework

The Fourth Turning theory, developed by William Strauss and Neil Howe, describes generational cycles of approximately 80-100 years that culminate in transformative crises. According to this theory, the United States is currently in the fourth and most critical period of this cycle, characterized by the collapse of outdated institutions and the emergence of new power structures.

Steve Bannon, the strategic architect of Trumpism, has adopted this theory as a fundamental framework for understanding the current historical moment. The Trump administration represents not only a political shift but a systemic transformation that redefines the pillars of the established order since World War II.

'AI Death Panels': Trump Pilot Program Seeks to Bring 'Very Worst' For-Profit Insurance Practices to Medicare

The administration, warned two union leaders, "is inserting private AI companies, which have a giant financial stake in the denial of care, into the doctor-patient relationship."

Aug 29, 2025

Creating what critics are equating to "AI death panels" elderly Americans in need of care, the Trump administration is launching a pilot program in six states that will use artificial intelligence to determine whether Medicare recipients should qualify for certain procedures.

As reported by The New York Times on Thursday, the pilot program will hire private firms to deploy AI to make what are known as "prior authorization" “decisions regarding whether Medicare should pay for certain procedures, including spinal surgeries and steroid injections.

According to the paper, the program will rely on algorithms similar to those "used by insurers have been the subject of several high-profile lawsuits, which have asserted that the technology allowed the companies to swiftly deny large batches of claims and cut patients off from care in rehabilitation facilities."

The way the program is being structured will also give AI firms big incentives to maximize the denial of claims for Medicare recipients, as the Times reported that "Medicare plans to pay them a share of the savings generated from rejections."

Abe Sutton, the director of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, emphasized in an interview with the Times that this program would not be used to review emergency services or hospital stays.

Even so, some experts and advocates have warned that this program risks bringing the same problems experienced by people who use private insurance to Medicare.

"It's basically the same set of financial incentives that has created issues in Medicare Advantage and drawn so much scrutiny," Ohio-based surgeon Dr. Vinay Rathi, who is also an expert in Medicare payment policies, explained to the Times. "It directly puts them at odds with the clinicians."

Jathan Sadowski, a senior lecturer and research fellow in the Emerging Technologies Research Lab at Monash University, also warned about private insurance practices creeping into traditional Medicare.

"The government is hiring companies using AI to make those determinations about healthcare," he wrote on X. "This is exactly the same tactic that private insurers like UnitedHealth use to delay and deny treatment."

The reported pilot program also drew harsh reviews from the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), as president Randi Weingarten and the union's Retirees Program and Policy Council co-chair Tom Murphy issued a joint statement accusing the Trump administration of "attempting to transform Medicare into the very worst of private insurance."

"Instead of making life easier and better for older Americans, this administration is introducing extra hurdles that are burdensome to patients and often get in the way of their desperately needed treatments," they said. "And the administration is inserting private AI companies, which have a giant financial stake in the denial of care, into the doctor-patient relationship."

You might have heard this week’s announcement from RFK Jr. and the MAHA Action account on X about a new universal vaccine being developed—with his blessing. If you didn’t, it may be because, after racking up nearly half a million views and an enormous backlash, MAHA Action deleted the post.

That’s strange. Here’s the announcement they didn’t feel confident leaving up:

“Right now we're developing a universal vaccine at NIH, which is a vaccine that addresses the entire phylum of viruses. And so it's a vaccine that mimics natural immunity, and it is effective against any kind of mutation, so it doesn't drive the virus to mutate and it could be effective. We believe it's going to be effective, against not only coronaviruses, but also flu. And it's going to be a much more, much safer and much more effective vaccine.” — RFK Jr.

The backlash was intense. More vaccines are clearly not what the public wants. The comments rebuked the announcement, and the post was deleted.

Beyond the odd commitment from RFK Jr. to introduce more vaccines after years of warning about their dangers, this announcement comes with even more surprises.

Dig deeper, and you might be horrified by what you find. The trail leads to a product already listed as “reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen”—meaning more cancer. A product that is funded by none other than Bill Gates and linked to Anthony Fauci.
