'Autopsy Findings in Cases of Fatal COVID-19 Vaccine-Induced Myocarditis': Journal 'ESC Heart Failure'
"[H]igh likelihood of a causal link between COVID-19 vaccines and death from myocarditis," study authors confirm.
A new journal publication posted on Sunday online ahead of print in ESC Heart Failure has found a “high likelihood” of a causal link between the deadly heart disease myocarditis and COVID-19 vaccines.
The study authors explain that COVID vaccines have been linked to myocarditis in the past and in some circumstances “can be fatal.”
Their review aimed to investigate whether there are any causal links between COVID vaccines and death from myocarditis using post-mortem analysis, also known as an autopsy, the examination of a body after death.
They looked at autopsy reports involving COVID vaccination-induced myocarditis through 3 July 2023.
Initially identifying 1691 studies, the authors finally included 14 papers that contained 28 autopsy cases.
Eighteen cases (64%) received Pfizer–BioNTech mRNA COVID vaccine, while nine cases (32%) received Moderna’s mRNA vaccines.
One case received a Zifivax jab, a recombinant protein subunit vaccine.
In most cases (26), the cardiovascular system was the only organ system affected, and the mean age of death was 44.4 years old.
But in two cases, myocarditis was characterized as a consequence from “multisystem inflammatory syndrome,” which involves the inflammation of different body parts.
“The mean and median number of days from last COVID-19 vaccination until death were 6.2 and 3 days, respectively,” the study notes.
Some autopsies “showed intense inflammation and destruction of cardiac tissue including the conduction system,” while others “had no reported symptoms before death.”
One report indicated “two boys, age 16 and 17, who died a few days after mRNA injection while asleep at home.”
The study authors emphasized the high likelihood of a “causal” link between the jab and death.
“We established that all 28 deaths were most likely causally linked to COVID-19 vaccination by independent review of the clinical information presented in each paper,” they write, adding:
“The temporal relationship, internal and external consistency seen among cases in this review with known COVID-19 vaccine-induced myocarditis, its pathobiological mechanisms, and related excess death, complemented with autopsy confirmation, independent adjudication, and application of the Bradford Hill criteria to the overall epidemiology of vaccine myocarditis, suggests that there is a high likelihood of a causal link between COVID-19 vaccines and death from myocarditis.”
To save lives, the authors call for “urgent investigation” into the matter.
“If the COVID-19 vaccines remain on the market for public use, urgent investigation is required for the purpose of risk stratification and mitigation in order to reduce the population occurrence of fatal COVID-19 vaccine-induced myocarditis,” they conclude.
